Ukrainian Team «Hnizdo» Represented Ukraine at the World Drone Racing Championship
From May 15 to 17, 2026, one of the most prestigious international FPV drone racing events — the MultiGP Global Qualifier and FAI Drone Racing Championship — took place in Aichtal.
The Ukrainian team «Hnizdo» became the first Ukrainian team since the beginning of the full-scale invasion to officially represent Ukraine at a championship of this scale. More than 290 athletes from around the world participated, including professional pilots from Germany, France, Japan, China, Bulgaria, and many other countries.
Team «Hnizdo» Results
According to the 2026 Global Qualifier Leaderboard, the Ukrainian pilots achieved the following positions in the global MultiGP ranking:
— Vladislav «Word1n» — 116th place
— Oleksii «Receiver» — 121st place
— Oleksii «Crush» — 176th place
— Oleksand «MZR» — 271st place
The youngest member of the Ukrainian team was 19 years old, while the oldest was 43. For most of the participants, this was their first experience competing at an international championship of this level.
Two Formats — Two Levels of Challenge
The championship featured two international competition formats:
— MultiGP Global Qualifier — a worldwide qualification format using a unified track configuration for all participating countries. Pilots' results contribute to the official global MultiGP ranking.
— FAI Drone Racing — the most prestigious professional drone racing format, where up to eight pilots race simultaneously in elimination heats using a Double Elimination system. FAI Drone Racing is considered the most challenging and spectacular discipline in the world of FPV drone racing.
Despite the Lack of Infrastructure and Support
Team members emphasize that Ukrainian drone racing is currently developing almost entirely through the dedication and enthusiasm of the pilots and the community itself. Most training takes place in simulators due to the lack of training tracks and accessible infrastructure. At the same time, professional competition requires constant real-world drone practice, expensive equipment, and technical support.
Despite all these challenges, Team «Hnizdo» successfully represented Ukraine on the international stage and entered the official global FPV drone racing rankings.
Drone Racing — A Sport of the Future
FPV drone racing has long become a separate high-tech sports discipline worldwide. Many countries already operate academies, youth schools, and professional training programs for young pilots.
The Ukrainian team believes that Ukraine has every opportunity to become one of the leaders in this field if the following are developed: training facilities, youth academies, athlete support programs, conditions for international participation of Ukrainian pilots, and systematic development of FPV sports.
Call to the Community
Team «Hnizdo» invites active FPV pilots, beginners, young people, veterans — everyone interested in developing in the field of drone racing and modern FPV sports — to join training sessions and educational programs.
